    Duality Trax first opened its books in 2020 with an EP featuring Radiant Love regular Fio Fa and a remix of the year contender coming from Lisbon’s Violet. Since then the label has become known for its acute attention to detail, giving each release the shine it deserves while avoiding disposable practices and challenging the industry through its dedication to duality and balance, whether that be sonically or surrounding gender identity. It’s really no surprise that one of house music’s leading label ¦gures Tywi was destined to make an appearance. Having started the Haŵs imprint in his home city of Cardiff, the label’s wide-spread popularity began to gain the attention from some of the industry’s most respected heads and became a breeding ground for new artists to emerge. A child of the ‘90s, Maruwa combines her classically trained ear with the nostalgia of her upbringing in the remix; channeling early trance records and deep, chugging rhythms into a wave of euphoria ¦t for peaktime. It’s the ¦rst time the label has also delved head ¦rst intofull trance territory, turning the intensity levels up while paying homage to both label owner and artist’s early musical in§uences.     Raised on the seemingly ingrained House sound of Cork (Ireland) and its heavy influence by renowned and revered House heads Fish Go Deep and their Sweat Nights at the legendary Sir Henry’s Club it was an inevitable progression for BALMR to follow the path of producer and DJ.

    Over the past decade he’s releases his material on the likes of Nordic Trax, Kolour Detroit, Expanded Records and more, as well as hosting his own Down Right Deep Show on Deep House Radio.
    Here, presenting his new latest collection of works, ‘Paths Unknown’ sees BALMR captures moments in time and individual journeys to paths previously undiscovered.

    Opening the EP is ‘Drifting’, an aptly titled journey traversing through hypnotic, billowing chords, atmospherics strings and shuffled drums. ‘Deep City Nights’ follows next and encapsulates the frenetic energy city life has to offer in the night-time via an amalgamation of jazzy keys, dubby chords, expansive vocal chants and crisp percussion.
    Opening the flip side is title-cut ‘Paths Unknown’, diving deeper and back into immersive and airy realms through subtly nuanced textures, resonant synth licks and snaking bass grooves. ‘Step Into My Own’ then rounds out the release, embracing classic deep house tropes with choppy vocal hits, jazzy keys, bouncy subs and a heavily drum rhythmic drive.

    Holly Lester’s Duality Trax Label has quickly become synonymous for its blend of future facing sonics and mind- warping melodies, served together with a healthy dose of nostalgia. A label just as focused on making dance�oor destroyers as it is exploring left-leaning, personal projects, it’s within this duality where the label has found its success, never afraid to shy away from b side oddities or tracks edging more towards good-old-fashioned-fun. DUALITY5 steers towards the latter, with Manchester based DJ & producer Aiden Francis providing the serotonin on tap with three lively dance�oor cuts, including a huge remix from Italy’s Matisa. Aiden had a big 2022, releasing music on Magic Carpet, Gestalt and beloved music platform and label Houseum, solidifying himself as one to watch in the euphoric unity of house, trance and techno. Title track ‘Plastic Fantasy’ is the star of the show, a suitably sassy roller that places everyone’s favorite blonde icon front left of the speakers. Subtle old school strings contrast with alien electronics, providing familiarity in an otherwise unfamiliar world. A bubble-gum vocal then rolls in cheekily over a driving bassline and dynamic percussion – used in a way I’m not sure the original creators had in mind. ‘Future Proof’ meanwhile demonstrates Aidens’ knack for contemporary progressive house music. With warm pads, swirling sonic textures and moments of blissful euphoria, it’s energetic enough to move a dance�oor, but gentle enough for home listening too. The record comes to a close with ‘Aquamarine’,

    with Aiden opting in favour of free �owing breakbeats and mind expanding synths, together radiating a feeling of warmth and hope for days to come. Italian DJ and producer Matisa is on hand to round the EP off with a bass-heavy rendition of ‘Plastic Fantasy’ a no-holds-barred speed garage licked stomper, with the power to lure smokers back inside the club with their feet �rmly planted on the dance�oor.

    We travelled along the curvature of the earth and bent our minds asunder to get to where we are now. The passing of time has only made the lore more precious. With the gifts we have been provided, the story can finally begin.

    A man with drum machines, keyboards and a penchant for rawness enters. With rough takes and a distaste for convention, he emanates the sonicisms of TriForm. The forces of Earth are captivating but sometimes they conspire against you, and sometimes you lose revered recordings for abnormal reasons. From these once thought irretrievable tapes, he manifested the Refound EP.

    An ode to the EP’s arduous production, ‘Lost and Found’ revels in classic 90s house euphoria. Iconic bass stabs elevate and punctuate the succinctly aligned keys, causing big smiles and dancing miles. ‘909 Anodyne’ waxes and wanes, the vocoder-like synths repeating and reinventing over the mellifluous chords and the time-honoured drum machines’ canonical reverberations.

    Flip the wax for ‘Attrakted’, a crunchy concoction with big-room tendencies. The bells are alive, and they’ve given you a thumping DJ tool that just won’t quit. Rounding things off is the aptly named ‘Younight’, lock in and get blindsided by the subtle acid, choral keys and saccharine beat. It’s emotion ’til the very end.

Better known as Zeno Messis, one part of the prolific Megalon project that painted the UK underground techno scene of the 90s. With a string of releases on Plink Plonk featuring the now cultish 94’ LP ‘Pandora’s Box’, Megalon’s mosaic of dance music was as much Ambient Dub as it was Detroit techno or Deep House remaining timeless and mythical.

    Baguette Magique returns with four original tracks produced by Madrid’s own Babu, who shares with us a beautiful and timeless piece of work.
    The Ep starts off with “The Chamber”, a perfect intro to the electric energy of the record with a mischievous bass line, laser sounds and trippy chopped-off vocals from video game Halo that welcomes you literally into’s Babu’s universe.
    Then comes “Play My Game” which shares the same name of the EP as we consider it to be the center piece of the record. A timeless electro gem, cut for the club and for the after hours.
    The beautiful deep bass, malicious synths and ominous robotic voices are genuine and powerful. The Madrid based producer keeps on giving bangers for the club on the flip side with “Radio Transmission”.
    The electricity is tangible in this hybrid track between Minimal, Techno and Electro topped off with glitchy fx and looped vocals. We conclude the ride with the lovely retro house track “Alpedrete House”. The deeper and groovier sounds make it the romantic cut from the record to dance and maybe fall in love on the dance floor.

Ennio and Fabio’s studio experimentation reaches new heights in the euphoric, beautifully-layered synth crescendos of Mirror Image and Aural Ensemble–perfect highpoints for blissed-out capital-m dance floor Moments. Echo Triggering packs enough beefy bottom end and wonky synth sequences to exit mental orbit and Soft Tension will leave them drifting through the twilight wondering “which way is up?”.
